One patron fondly recalled the friendly service in the train car, where the staff’s warm engagement makes everyone feel like a regular.
Menu highlights are a true celebration of barbecue artistry. The BBQ Pork is tender and dripping with smoky goodness, complemented perfectly by classics like tangy Ribs Beans and Coleslaw. For something a bit playful, the Miss Piggy and Fried Cauliflower offer a delightful contrast of flavors and textures. Side dishes at Kehde's are just as thoughtfully crafted — the Great Fried Pickles with their crispy, salty crunch and the Potato Posh topped with burnt ends are crowd-pleasers that keep diners coming back.
Beyond the traditional, their Tenderloin Sandwich with fresh-cut fries and the Societal Plate exemplify the comforting, hearty fare that makes Kehde's a staple in Sedalia's culinary scene. If you’re a fan of fusion BBQ tastes, the Porchetta and Cup BBQ sauce elevate the experience, adding layers of richness and zest.
While the food consistently earns rave reviews, the service is equally commendable. Guests highlight the attentiveness of the staff and how the environment feels both lively and intimate, perfect for families or friends seeking good food with great company. One customer experienced a slight hiccup with an unanticipated charge for extra sour cream, but this small detail does little to overshadow the overall excellence of the dining experience.

It’s more than just barbecue—it’s a cherished local gem that invites you to dig into hearty meals and create lasting memories amid the charm of a rolling historic train.
The food was excellent and tasted amazing, only thing negative they charge 80 cents for an extra thing of sour cream and didn't inform about the extra charge until after receiving our ticket.
We had no idea there was an option to sit in a train car until we were offered seats there (we had arrived from the rear of the restaurant and didn’t see it from the front). What a cool experience. Our waiter (James?) was super friendly and engaging, seemingly knowing everyone besides us that was eating in the train car that day. My buddy and I both ordered the mixed burnt ends (beef, pork and turkey). So good! The mashed potatoes and the fries were also delicious! This was my first visit to Sedalia but I’d gladly return here for a meal.
I ate the KC combo with season fries, bbq was very good toast coulda been darker. But other then that was a great meal with the family. Fresh food good environment
My husband has wanted to visit this restaurant for a while, and we were finally able to try it out. It was such a fun and unique experience dining in a train car restaurant. The suitcases lining the top of the car were a cute touch. The food was really tasty as well. We ordered a couple of meals plus an appetizer, and we had no complaints. The service was great, too. Our waitress was attentive and very nice.
Best burger and fries in town. Never had a bad meal, here
Khede’s BBQ in Sedalia is a unique and memorable spot, especially with its setting inside a vintage train car—it adds a nostalgic, fun twist to the dining experience that you don’t find just anywhere. We tried three different sandwiches: the Miss Piggy, the Big Bird, and John’s Prime Rib Sandwich. All three were fantastic. The Miss Piggy was a pork lover’s dream—tender, smoky pulled pork loaded with flavor. The Big Bird featured juicy smoked chicken with great seasoning and a nice balance of smoky and savory. But the standout was John’s Prime Rib Sandwich. It was packed with juicy, flavorful prime rib, sliced thick and served with all the right fixings. Every bite was rich, hearty, and satisfying. Beyond the great food, the service was friendly and quick, and the vibe inside the train car made it a fun and cozy place to enjoy a meal. Whether you’re passing through or local to the area, Khede’s is a must-stop for BBQ with a creative twist. Great sandwiches, fun atmosphere, and a cool location—what more could you ask for?
